Middle/High School

Teens enjoy stories as much as younger children do, especially if they are challenged to listen and respond to the ways folktales and myths mirror issues in their own lives. Through discussion, writing, and the visual arts, storytelling sessions deepen students' understanding of ideas and invite creative expression, developing students' appreciation of the ideas and creativity of their classmates. By continuing to appreciate cultural differences and enhancing their ability to relate effectively to their classmates, storytelling continues to strengthen students’ sense of self and their place in the community while it continues to build literacy and performance in all subject areas.

Storytelling Arts has worked at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School and Grace A. Dunn Middle School in Trenton, the Fort Lee Education Center, the Transitional Education Center in Morristown and Kenmare High School in Jersey City.
